About the Introduction to Furniture Repair Course
The Introduction to Furniture Repair course is designed to teach you the fundamental skills of furniture repair. This course includes four projects, using different types of wood chairs. Why chairs? Because they are the most frequently repaired furniture, and the skills required to repair wood chairs are transferrable to other types of wood furniture.
This course will cover:
- How to safely disassemble wood furniture
- How to identify and use the appropriate type of glue for wood furniture repair
- How to clean glue residue off of wood furniture joints
- How to remove broken dowels
- How to glue up wood furniture properly for lasting results
- How to repair modern assemble yourself wood chairs

Online Learning with Live Instructor Support
We've designed the Introduction to Furniture Repair course to provide online learning while mimicking a classroom experience as much as possible. With this format you can learn from home and save the expense of travel and accommodations to take a course. How do we do this?
The course has 8 learning modules. Each module has:
- Lessons delivered by recorded videos to watch and learn about furniture repair
- Hands-on furniture repair exercises to reinforce the learning in your own workspace
- Scott holds a live meeting for each module to address questions, discuss challenges, and provide support
We've also included several downloadable reference sheets to help you learn new information that may be difficult to memorize.
Course Dates
These courses run for 8 weeks. The next instructor supported courses are:
- March 31 to May 21, 2025 - Live video sessions on Wednesdays at 8 pm Eastern
- May 5 to June 25, 2025 - Live video sessions on Thursdays at 8 pm Eastern
Access to the course material, including the tool/supply list will be provided on the course start date.
Option for Self-Paced Learning
